We will discuss teacher’s ability to “know” what effective interactions are; why they matter; “see” effective interactions needed to build self-awareness\, and “do” by practicing effective strategies.  \nCEUs available.  \nAccess to internet and camera is a requirement for this fully online course. Link will be provided for Microsoft TEAMS. \nThe first session is Tuesday February 13th 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through TEAMS. The last session is on Tuesday May 14th 6:30 pm.  \nThe time of each session in between will be 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM always on a Tuesday.  Participants should plan to arrive by 6:20 PM to sign-in and get settled in so that the class can begin promptly at 6:30. Dates are subject to change. If changes occur\, participants will be notified as soon as possible.   \nPlease bring your CGC/MMCI manual to each session. This is a facilitated virtual course camera and participation required to get credit for attendance.  Come ready to learn and have fun doing it!  \nMake-up Policy: If a participant misses a session\, there will only be one chance to make it up. That date will be announced during the 10th session. If the opportunity for make-up is missed\, then the participant may have to attend a session that is offered by other Coalitions. The contact information for the other Coalitions will be provided\, and it will be up to the participant to contact that Coalition to make arrangements to attend. SUMMARY:Toddler CLASS® Observer Training for Directors
DESCRIPTION:  \nWednesday\, May 22 – and – Thursday\, May 23 \n8:30 AM – 5 PM \nFree \nThis 2-day Toddler Observer Certification course is for directors of sites contracted with ELCMC to provide School Readiness or VPK services. The CLASS® Observation Training is designed to support observers in reliably measuring the quality of educator-child interactions. Participants will: \n\nUnderstand how to use the Toddler CLASS® tool to effectively measure interactions\nPractice observing and scoring classroom interactions\nReceive exclusive access to resources and supports to help earn and maintain certification\n\nA “Toddler Observer” kit will be provided at the training. \nSeating is limited\, and attendance both days is required to earn all CEUs and receive certificate of completion. There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is on your own. Vending machines are available.

Participants will be introduced to FirstDay Learning’s key pillars of a proactive approach to preventing challenging behavior. Sessions will explore the complex connections between these pillars and various aspects of our shared human experience. Participants will consider ideas in new ways\, create interesting and unique cognitive connections\, reflect on their own practice and plan for continuous improvement. \nTopics Include: \nHidden Influence: Proactive Philosophies on Behavior (Relationships\, Environments\, Intentionality) \nIn it for the Long Haul: Professional Stamina (Self-care and Mental Health\, Peer Support and Community\, Supportive Professional Relationships) \nPARTS 3 & 4 \nThese days focus on the psychology of behavior change and considering this important field through the lens of real world experiences.
