SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed Care for Child Care Program Directors (TICD) Course
DESCRIPTION:Goal \nTo assist programs in implementing trauma-informed care\nfor families they serve by:\n1. Recognizing the signs of trauma impacting children.\n2. Examining the importance of self-care.\n3. Applying tools to help children regulate emotions and\nbehaviors.\n4. Evaluating the physical learning environment for\n5. trauma-sensitive support.\n6. Developing a plan for creating a trauma-sensitive\nprogram. \nWhy would you take this specific course? \n1. Components of this course will meet the Professional Contribution requirement to renew.\n2. T.E.A.C.H. will pay for the course. (This scholarship does not require your employer to sponsor you.) There is a “Commitment Requirement” of 6 month to the field.\n3. Be part of a community of practice endorsing this initiative nationwide. \nCourse Structure: \nThis is a 40-hour multi-session course that requires the completion of outside assignment and readings. Students must…\n>>> Attend Virtual Zoom Classes\,\n1. Attend five (5) virtual Zoo instructor-Led sessions. Attendance is mandatory for all sessions. Student’s computers screen MUST be on at all times for the attendance requirements to be met\n2. Actively participate in class discussions and activities.\n>>> In between virtual zoom class sessions\,\n1. Read assigned chapters of the textbook and complete homework prior to attending the virtual class sessions.\n2. Complete 20 hours of observation in a the workplace.\n3. Implement strategies and information into the workplace.\n4. Successfully complete the 5- hour online course of “Trauma-Informed Care for Child Care Professionals\n(TICC). \nDirector Credential Renewal \nParticipants can use this course towards meeting the renewal requirements for the Director Credential. With successful completion of the CEU assessment\, 4.0 CEUs are available. Additionally\, successful completion of the course will meet the professional contribution required. The online course has 0.5 CEUs available for participants \, which if combined with the 4.0 CEUs from this course\, will fulfill renewal training requirement of 4.5.
